This studio-based course is designed to develop your observational skills, technical
proficiency, and creative expression through the art of drawing. Whether you’re a
beginner just starting your artistic journey after art foundations (Drawing 1), looking to
refine your skills (Drawing 2), or ready to push the boundaries of your artistic voice
(Drawing 3), this class will provide you with a challenging and supportive environment.
We will explore a wide array of drawing mediums, experiment with various techniques,
and delve into both traditional and contemporary drawing practices. This course
emphasizes the process of creation, encouraging risk-taking, critical thinking, and a
personal approach to art-making through emphasis of choice and voice.
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit: Students interested in taking AP Drawing need to be
enrolled in Drawing for a minimum of two years (junior and senior year) to build enough
work for their portfolio. There is a fee for an AP portfolio submission.
